Our Senior Pastor
Rev. Dr. Bernard Clarke
Dr. Bernard Clarke humbly serves as the Senior Minister at Saint Philip Monumental AME Church in the vibrant city of Savannah, GA. His journey in ministry began in 1991 when he felt the call to serve, a calling he embraced with humility and dedication.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree from Savannah State University and further studies in Vocational Education Certification from Valdosta State University, Dr. Clarke embodies a commitment to lifelong learning. His spiritual journey deepened with a Master of Divinity from Turner Theology Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA, and culminated in a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH.
Ordained as an Itinerant Elder in April 1995, Dr. Clarke has lovingly shepherded congregations across Georgia, including Asbury AME Church in Sylvania and Bethel AME Church in Millen. Notably, at The Greater Gaines Chapel AME Church in Savannah, he spearheaded the construction of a 4000+ square feet Christian Education Complex, leaving an enduring legacy of faith and learning.
Beyond the pulpit, Dr. Clarke serves as an esteemed educator within the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, imparting knowledge and wisdom in Collision Repair Technology at the Woodville-Tompkins Career Academy. His commitment to education extends to his role as Dean of the Georgia Annual Conference Board of Examiners, where he tirelessly mentors future leaders of faith.
Despite his numerous accolades, including being honored as "Teacher of the Year" by the Savannah-Chatham County school board and featured in a documentary in 2006 on the Discovery Channel's "Monster Garage," Dr. Clarke remains grounded in his mission to spread the Gospel with warmth and compassion. As President of the Evangelical Ministers’ Union, he continues to inspire others through his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to serving the community.

Dr. Clarke is married to the lovely, Anoinette B. Clarke and they are the proud parents of three children, LaToya, Amber and Jordan.
